Tano Batak: A Taste of Sumatra’s High-Altitude Heritage
Tano Batak is more than just a coffee—it’s a celebration of Sumatra’s rich landscape and generations of smallholder farming tradition. Grown in the lush, high-altitude regions of Lintong and Dolok Sanggul near South Lake Toba, this coffee comes from the highest elevations in North Sumatra, ranging from 1,400 to 1,550 meters above sea level. That altitude, combined with the region’s volcanic soil and unique climate, creates the perfect conditions for exceptional flavor.
Behind every bean is a network of dedicated small farmers and six trusted local collectors who buy directly in weekly village markets. These coffees are wet-hulled at peak moisture, dried slowly in greenhouses, and then carefully refined using densimetric tables and hand sorting in Medan. The result? Only the best, large-screen-size beans—each processed as a microlot to preserve their unique character.
With Tano Batak, you get a coffee that’s as thoughtful as it is flavorful—born from tradition and elevated by precision.
